Velocity Systems
MEU-issued modular Crye-style carrier at a lower entry. Modular cummerbund options (Standard, low-profile elastic, or MOLLE plate-pocket), SCARAB flap ecosystem, and zip-on back panel support.
The Velocity Systems SCARAB LT is the Marine-issued modular carrier you can actually buy. Velocity Systems holds the MEU SOC contract for the SCARAB line, and the LT (Lightweight) variant is the civilian-channel version of what gets fielded. Architecturally it copies the Crye AVS — separate front flap, separate cummerbund, separate back panel — but at a lower entry: $338 for the carrier shell versus $715+ for an equivalent AVS configuration.
Modularity is the SCARAB LT's main pitch. Three cummerbund options ship in the SCARAB line: the Standard SCARAB cummerbund (PALS plus elastic retention), the CBN1 low-profile elastic, and the CBN3 MOLLE plate-pocket variant for users running soft IIIA inserts. Two flap options: the full SCARAB front flap (M4 mag retention plus admin) and SCARAB quarter flaps (split-front for chest-rig-behind builds). Zip-on back panel support covers the same panels that mount on the SCARAB Heavy.
The civilian-purchase complication is the catch. Velocity Systems sells through their direct site only to LE and Mil buyers — civilian orders go through dealers. Brownells lists the SCARAB Light Plate Carrier in the FlexOffers feed (six SKU variants across sizes and colors), and Tactical Distributors, Skyline USA, and US Elite all stock it. Plan on a 4-6 week lead time on most configurations.
The SCARAB is the right pick when a buyer wants Crye-style modularity without the Crye Precision price tag and is willing to navigate the LE-channel buying process. Marine MEU clones land here for the issued-kit aesthetic.
Add the SCARAB LT to your build and see how it enhances your platform.
