Overview

The Knight's Armament 5.56 CRS-3 is a strong signature-reduction choice when low flash and hard-use durability matter. It is not limited to KAC rifles. A suitable non-KAC 1/2x28 host can use it after the correct KAC QDC muzzle device is installed, provided the locking collar clears the handguard. KAC lists a 6.1-inch body, 5.5 inches of added length, and a 16-ounce weight. Its published figures are 135 dBA one meter left of the muzzle, 134 dBA at the ear, 0.48 mcd*s first-round flash, and 0.05 mcd*s flash after the first round.

Unlike the CRS-2, the CRS-3 has independent sound data from the 2025 TBAC Silencer Summit. On the shared 16-inch 5.56 host, it measured 138.8 dBA mil-spec average and 126.88 dBA shooter-ear LEQ. TBAC measured the tested assembly at 17.7 ounces and 6.25 inches, so buyers should distinguish those as-tested dimensions from KAC's published suppressor specifications. The CRS-3 fits KAC's 30555 QDC 3-prong flash hider and 123191 QDC open brake, but not the QDC Mini-MAMS. KAC calls for at least 0.200 inches of clearance behind the muzzle-device index pin, and some 11.5-inch rifles with long handguards may need a mount or handguard change to lock the collar fully.

Key Features

  • Independent 2025 TBAC Silencer Summit sound measurements
  • KAC 5.56 QDC locking system
  • Compatible with the 30555 QDC 3-prong and 123191 QDC open brake
  • 6.1-inch official overall length and 5.5-inch added length
  • 16-ounce official weight
  • KAC-published 0.48 mcd*s first-round and 0.05 mcd*s second-round flash
  • Black and FDE finishes

Pros

  • +Excellent flash control makes it the strongest choice here for a compatible rifle used at night
  • +Balanced sound at the muzzle and the shooter's ear avoids a one-dimensional quiet-at-one-position tune
  • +Adds only 5.5 inches past the bare muzzle, keeping a short rifle manageable
  • +The QDC collar gives you a fast, positive lock without threading the suppressor on by hand
  • +Works on KAC and non-KAC rifles equipped with the correct QDC muzzle device

Cons

  • Only fits the KAC QDC 3-prong and open brake, so it is a poor choice for a mixed-brand muzzle-device fleet
  • Does not fit the KAC Mini-MAMS despite sharing the QDC name
  • The mounted setup feels closer to an 18 oz can than the 16 oz body specification suggests
  • Some 11.5-inch rifles with a 10.75-inch URX4 do not leave enough room to lock the collar
  • No HUB rear thread means you cannot swap to another brand's mount later
