Overview

Athlon entered the Doppler chronograph market in 2025 with the Rangecraft Velocity Pro, and on Sniper's Hide and Rokslide testing it lands within the noise floor of the Garmin Xero C1 Pro for muzzle velocity readings. The unit measures 3.5 by 2.7 by 1.2 inches, weighs 4.7 ounces, and runs a 2.4-inch LCD that is brighter and a touch larger than the Garmin's. The 65 to 5,000 fps range catches subsonic .22 LR and air rifle loads that the Garmin's 100 fps floor cuts off. Where the Xero C1 wins is the ShotView app and Garmin's broader ecosystem; where the Rangecraft wins is price, screen size, and a slightly wider velocity envelope.

Key Features

  • Doppler radar that does not rely on muzzle blast to trigger
  • 65 to 5,000 fps measurement range, including subsonics and pellets
  • 2.4-inch LCD display larger than the Garmin Xero's screen
  • Onboard ES, SD, average, min, and max calculations
  • USB-C charging and tripod mount for fast range setup

Pros

  • +$100-$300 less than Garmin C1 Pro / C2 for nearly identical velocity data
  • +Lower 65 fps floor catches subsonic .22 LR and pellets the Garmin misses
  • +Bigger, brighter screen than the Garmin Xero
  • +No app required; works standalone for load development

Cons

  • Athlon app and ecosystem are newer and thinner than Garmin's
  • No Applied Ballistics or smartwatch integration
  • Rapid-fire sampling not on par with Garmin C2
