Overview

The LabRadar LX is the long-awaited rework of the original LabRadar. The first LabRadar made Doppler chronography mainstream but punished users with a setup ritual that felt like aligning a satellite dish. The LX shrinks the unit to 2.5 by 2.75 by 2.75 inches and 11.5 ounces, replaces the trigger jack with reliable acoustic and accelerometer triggers, adds a color display, and ships with a ringed peep sight on top so you can rough-aim the radar in seconds. Where the LX still earns its slot above the Garmin and Athlon is downrange tracking. The unit follows the projectile from muzzle to roughly 100 yards and computes a true ballistic coefficient per shot, not just a muzzle velocity. For load development, twist-rate validation, and BC verification, that data is in a different category from what the C1 Pro and Rangecraft output.

Key Features

  • Doppler radar tracks the projectile downrange to compute true ballistic coefficient
  • Compact aluminum housing replaces the original LabRadar's bulky form factor
  • Ringed peep sight on top for fast, repeatable alignment
  • Color display with sunlight-readable contrast
  • Bluetooth pairing for the LabRadar app and CSV export

Pros

  • +Only sub-$1,000 chronograph producing real ballistic coefficient data
  • +Tracks bullets to ~100 yards, not just at the muzzle
  • +Massive setup improvement over original LabRadar
  • +Aluminum housing and serious data export tooling for ballisticians

Cons

  • Heaviest and bulkiest of the modern radar chronographs
  • Most of the LX's edge over the Garmin only matters if you are doing real load development
  • Aluminum housing and downrange tracking add bulk over pocket-size Doppler units
