Type S-Match Bushing Full Die Set (.308 Winchester)

The Redding Type S Match set turns neck tension from something that happens to you into something you choose. A conventional sizing die squeezes the neck undersize and then drags a fixed expander ball back out through it, which sets tension by accident of geometry and can pull the neck off axis on the way out. The Type S sizes the neck directly with an interchangeable bushing that self-centers on the neck, available in .001 inch increments in heat-treated steel or titanium nitride. Redding's own guidance is to select a bushing .002 inch under the measured neck diameter of a loaded round. Pull the bushing entirely and the die becomes a body die, which is a genuinely useful second job. The set pairs that sizer with a Competition bullet seating die whose micro-adjustment makes seating depth a recorded number rather than a lock-ring guess. Two honest caveats: the bushings are sold separately, so budget for them on top of the set price, and Redding advises keeping an expander button in the die unless your case necks have been turned to uniform wall thickness. The die ships with both the expander button and a decapping pin retainer for running without it.
