The M5E1 Enhanced upper moves the handguard attachment platform onto the receiver, creating a rigid direct-mount interface around the barrel. That architecture simplifies rail alignment but makes the rail choice proprietary: only Aero M5 Enhanced handguards fit.
The receiver still uses DPMS-pattern barrel and operating components, but its integrated mount replaces the standard threaded handguard path. Pick this upper and the builder narrows the rail slot to the matching M5E1 Enhanced handguard.
