IMI
Israeli military contract ammunition loaded to M193 spec. Higher velocity than .223 loads.
IMI M193 represents true military-specification 5.56 NATO ammunition manufactured by Israel Military Industries, one of the world's premier military ammunition suppliers. This ammunition is loaded to the original M193 ball specification developed by the U.S. military in the 1960s, featuring higher pressures and velocities than civilian .223 Remington loads. The 55-grain full metal jacket projectile is loaded into Boxer-primed brass cases that are built to withstand the higher chamber pressures of 5.56 NATO rifles.
The M193 specification was designed to maximize the terminal ballistics of the 55-grain bullet from 20-inch barrels, and IMI's loading faithfully reproduces this performance. With muzzle velocities exceeding 3,200 fps from a 20-inch barrel, this ammunition delivers the velocity needed to achieve fragmentation upon impact, which was the design intent of the original military specification. The higher velocity also provides flatter trajectories and better performance against intermediate barriers compared to standard .223 Remington loads.
It's critical to understand that IMI M193 is loaded to 5.56 NATO pressures and should only be fired in rifles specifically chambered for 5.56 NATO. While 5.56 NATO rifles can safely fire .223 Remington ammunition, the reverse is not true. Firing this ammunition in a rifle chambered only for .223 Remington can result in dangerous overpressure. Always verify your rifle's chamber specification before using 5.56 NATO ammunition.
