Badger Ordnance
4140 steel modular ambi safety with red enamel indicator and configurable throw
Badger Ordnance builds optic mounts that are issued to USSOCOM, so when they apply the same engineering to a safety selector, the result is predictably overbuilt. The Condition One Modular Safety is machined from 4140 steel, case-hardened, and coated in manganese phosphate for a finish that will outlast the rifle it is installed on. The detent is hardened to 60Rc, which means it will not wear into a mushy engagement over thousands of manipulations.
The kit ships with a long strong-side lever, a short weak-side lever, and a weak-side condition indicator cap for shooters who prefer single-side operation. The throw is configurable for 60 or 90 degrees, and the entire assembly installs into any M16, AR-15, AR-10, or SR-25 pattern lower. The standout feature is the bright red enamel on the levers and cap, providing instant visual verification of the selector position. In low light or under stress, that red flash tells you the weapon is on fire without requiring a tactile check.
At $80, the Condition One sits between the Radian Talon and the FCD ASF in both price and philosophy. It trades the Talon's aluminum levers and tool-less install for steel construction and a more traditional roll-pin attachment. For shooters who prioritize steel over aluminum and want the visual indicator, the Badger is the pick.
