Mars Trigger Position AR FRT Super Safety, Black, A009-ASM-001-V01
The Mars Trigger AR FRT Super Safety is a forced reset selector (super safety) for AR-15 platforms. Unlike a full forced reset trigger that replaces the entire fire control group, the Mars Super Safety is selector-based: the forced reset lives in the cam and lever that take the place of the safety selector. The three-position selector provides Safe, Semi, and Enhanced Semi modes, using the bolt carrier's movement to mechanically reset the trigger for faster follow-up shots.
Built from 4140 hardened alloy steel, the Mars Super Safety is engineered for durability and reliable operation under demanding conditions. The kit ships with the safety selector, its cam and lever, a Super Safety compatible trigger, the detent, and two spacers. It installs on a standard mil-spec AR-15 fire control group; you reuse your existing hammer, disconnector, and springs.
At about $140, the Mars Super Safety is one of the more affordable forced reset selector options on the market. Compatible with standard AR-15 platforms using mil-spec fire control groups. Users should verify compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations before purchase and installation.
Step-by-step procedures for setting up, operating, and maintaining the Mars Trigger Position AR FRT Super Safety.
The Mars AR FRT Super Safety ships as a selector kit: the safety selector with its cam and lever, a Super Safety compatible trigger, the kit detent, and two spacers, all in 4140 hardened alloy steel. It is not a complete fire control group. You reuse your rifle's existing hammer, hammer spring, and disconnector.
You supply a punch for the fire control group pins, a grip screwdriver, a bench block, and light gun oil. The Super Safety drops into a standard mil-spec-pattern AR-15 lower and runs on a mil-spec bolt carrier, so a standard host is the starting point. High-shelf, billet, and some Colt commercial lowers can crowd the lever and may need light selector-pocket relief.
The Mars AR FRT is a forced reset selector, not a forced reset trigger. The reset function lives entirely in the cam and lever that replace the safety selector. The trigger in the kit is a Super Safety compatible trigger; the hammer, disconnector, and springs are reused from the rifle.
The Mars installs as a standard AR-15 Super Safety. The fire control group comes fully out, the cam and lever go in, and the group goes back together. Two orientation details decide whether it works: the cam enters from the left side of the lower with its open channel facing into the receiver, and the lever drops in from the top with its high end pointing toward the rear so it captures the cam.
Work over a bench block. The hammer must be cocked before the cam goes in, and every check below happens before the upper goes back on.
Drop the magazine, lock the bolt to the rear, and confirm an empty chamber both visually and physically. Separate the upper from the lower, then dry-fire the lower once to de-cock the hammer before you punch any pins.
Back out the grip screw with the correct slotted or hex driver and lift the grip straight off. Catch the factory safety detent and its spring as the grip clears; both are under spring tension and will launch.
Rotate the factory selector until it slides free of the receiver. Punch out the trigger pin and hammer pin with a 1/8-inch punch and lift out the trigger, hammer, disconnector, and springs.
Fit the Super Safety compatible trigger from the kit, using the original trigger spring and disconnector, and pin it in. Reinstall the hammer and hammer spring and pin it in. Cock the hammer fully to the rear; the cam will not seat correctly against an uncocked hammer.
Slide the Super Safety cam into the receiver from the left side, the port side as you hold the rifle, with the cam's open channel facing into the receiver. Push it fully through so it sits centered in the selector bore.
Drop the selector lever in through the top of the receiver so it seats into the cam's channel, with the high end of the lever pointing toward the rear of the receiver. Rotate it through its travel to confirm it has captured the cam.
Drop the rounded detent from the kit and its spring into the grip channel, set the pistol grip onto the receiver, and tighten the grip screw to firm hand-tight. Confirm all three selector positions index with a crisp click.
Rejoin the upper and lower and cycle the bolt carrier slowly by hand through its full travel. The carrier must clear the cam lever without binding. If it drags, the carrier gap is too tight or the lower needs light selector-pocket relief; resolve the interference before going further.
Dry-fire through every position: safe blocks the trigger, semi gives one shot per deliberate pull, and the forced reset position resets the trigger cleanly. Manually cock the hammer and ride the carrier forward to confirm the cam resets the trigger. Do not fire the rifle until it cycles clean by hand through all three positions.
If the trigger binds against the cam or the reset feels gritty, stop and resolve it on the bench. A Super Safety that does not cycle smoothly by hand will not run reliably under live fire, and forcing it risks hammer follow.
The Mars AR FRT is a three-position selector. Safe blocks the trigger exactly like a standard mil-spec safety. Semi is ordinary semi-automatic fire, one round per deliberate trigger press, using your existing trigger's pull weight and break.
The third position is the forced reset mode. In it, the selector cam uses the bolt carrier's rearward travel to mechanically push the trigger forward after each shot, so the trigger resets against your finger faster than a manual release. It still fires one round per trigger function. The shooter pulls, the rifle fires, the carrier cycles, the cam resets the trigger, and the next round requires another distinct trigger pull.
The forced reset position is a reset mechanism, not an auto-fire mechanism. Each shot still requires its own trigger pull. The selector simply makes the reset faster and more consistent than releasing the trigger by hand.
