L3Harris ATPIAL-C

The L3Harris ATPIAL-C (Advanced Target Pointer/Illuminator/Aiming Laser - Commercial), model ATP-000-A58, is the civilian-power version of the issued AN/PEQ-15. It shares the same housing and control layout as the mil-spec PEQ-15 but drops the laser output to eye-safe levels so it can be purchased by the general public. The unit combines a Class 1 infrared aiming laser, a Class 3R infrared illuminator, and a Class 3R visible red laser in a single glass-reinforced polymer body.

The IR aiming laser runs 820nm to 850nm at 0.7mW and reaches past 450 yards under night vision. The fixed 3mW IR illuminator floods out to roughly 150 yards, lighting targets for a PVS-14 or similar tube. The visible red laser doubles as a daylight zeroing tool and a no-magnification aiming reference, co-aligned so a daylight zero on the visible laser carries the IR laser with it. Activation runs off the integrated button pad or a remote tape switch.

At 7.5 ounces with battery and powered by a single DL123A cell, the ATPIAL-C runs over 6 hours in dual-high mode and is rated waterproof to 6 meters for one hour. The lower-power illuminator and shorter IR range are the trade for civilian legality, the full-power PEQ-15 is restricted to military and law enforcement because of its Class IIIb laser output, not because the housing is export-only. The ATPIAL-C is ITAR controlled, meaning it cannot be exported or carried outside the United States, but that export control does not bar domestic civilian purchase.
