Holosun ARO EVO

The Holosun ARO EVO is the refined evolution of the original ARO, adding a Solar Failsafe power system and a larger viewing window to the enclosed-emitter platform. Released in late 2024, it keeps the 2 MOA red dot, Shake Awake, and the Aimpoint Micro footprint that made the original ARO popular, while answering the original's two main critiques: a smaller window and battery-only power.

What distinguishes the ARO EVO from its predecessor is the larger 26mm viewing window and the Solar Failsafe system. The bigger window expands the field of view for faster target acquisition and better both-eyes-open shooting, while the integrated solar panel keeps the dot lit even if the CR2032 battery dies. A forward-facing ambient light sensor auto-adjusts reticle brightness across 12 settings (8 daylight and 4 night-vision compatible), and enhanced lens coatings deliver clearer glass with reduced blue tint compared to the original ARO. This is a single-dot optic; it does not have a multi-reticle or circle-dot system.

The ARO EVO maintains the 50,000 hour battery life and Shake Awake functionality of its predecessor, with improvements to wake time and motion sensitivity based on field feedback. Built from hard-anodized 6061 aluminum with IPX8 waterproofing and 1000G shock resistance, it handles professional use in adverse conditions. The Aimpoint Micro footprint ensures compatibility with the industry's vast mount ecosystem, and it ships with both a 1.63-inch lower-1/3 co-witness mount and a 1.05-inch low mount. At roughly $220 street ($258.81 MSRP), the ARO EVO positions itself as the solar-backed, large-window step up from the standard ARO.
