Cyelee Chameleon SRS8

The Cyelee Chameleon SRS8 pairs a deliberately large 8 MOA dot with a 26.5x22.5 mm window on the RMR footprint, which is a speed-first combination. A big dot is easier to find on the draw and forgiving of an imperfect presentation, and the wide window gives the eye more room to catch it. Cyelee narrowed the housing width to cut snag on the draw stroke, and the CR1632 loads from the top so the battery changes without pulling the optic and losing zero.

The STIG-RS designation is Cyelee's Astigmatism Relief System, a lens treatment the company says produces a cleaner dot for shooters who see red dots smear or flare. Set expectations correctly: a large dot plus a treated lens can make the smear less distracting, but it does not correct astigmatism. Shooters whose astigmatism badly distorts an LED dot get a more reliable fix from an etched prism reticle or a green emitter than from any open reflex sight.

Everything else is conventional and competent for the price. Ten brightness settings include two night vision levels, Motion Deactivated Standby wakes the optic on movement, the 7075-T6 housing is IPX7 rated, and Cyelee claims up to 50,000 hours on the CR1632. The emitter is open, so this is a carry optic that will collect lint and rain in the emitter channel the way every open reflex does. The 8 MOA dot also covers roughly eight inches at 100 yards, which is fine for defensive distances and coarse for anything precise.
