Ruger
10+1 .380 ACP pocket pistol at 10.6 oz, tritium front sight, modern .380 benchmark
0-10 Scale Across 8 Axes
The Ruger LCP Max redefined the pocket .380 category when it launched by doubling the capacity of the classic LCP platform from 6+1 to 10+1 without meaningfully increasing the external dimensions. The staggered-stack magazine design fits flush in the grip while keeping width at 0.81 inches, thin enough for front jeans pockets in most cuts. At 10.6 oz unloaded, the LCP Max weighs less than most modern smartphones, making it the lightest 10+1 defensive handgun available at any price.
The tritium front sight is standard on the LCP Max, a feature that most pocket .380 competitors charge extra for or do not offer. The integral accessory rail at the front of the trigger guard accepts micro lights like the Streamlight TLR-6. The textured grip panels provide adequate purchase without snagging pocket linings. The striker-fired trigger is long and heavy by design, as is appropriate for a pocket pistol that may ride in a holster-less pocket environment, but it breaks cleanly relative to the class.
The LCP Max accepts both its flush 10-round magazine and an extended 12-round magazine for range use. Ruger's pocket holster aftermarket for the LCP Max is the deepest in the .380 class, with options from DeSantis, Alabama Holster, Vedder, and dozens of Kydex makers.
