Springfield Armory
Mid-length 6.5 Grendel AR-15 built for deer and mid-size game hunting out to 400 yards.
0-10 Scale Across 8 Axes
Springfield's Saint Victor in 6.5 Grendel fills a gap that factory AR-15s rarely address: a purpose-built hunting rifle on the small-frame AR platform. The 6.5 Grendel cartridge was designed by Bill Alexander specifically for the AR-15 magazine well, and it retains roughly 1,100 ft-lbs of energy at 300 yards against 5.56's ~500 ft-lbs. For whitetail deer inside 400 yards, that matters.
The 16-inch medium-profile barrel uses a 1:8 twist optimized for 123-grain hunting bullets (Hornady SST, Berger Hybrid, Federal Fusion). Mid-length gas with a Melonite-finished BCG and free-floating M-LOK handguard keeps recoil soft and the barrel isolated for accuracy. The enhanced nickel-boron trigger breaks around 4.5 pounds with minimal creep, which is adequate for field use without needing an aftermarket upgrade on day one.
The Saint Victor ships with a Bravo Company Mod 3 grip, Magpul MOE SL stock, and Springfield's M-Lok handguard. It is a factory-complete hunting rifle at a price that undercuts custom 6.5 Grendel uppers by several hundred dollars. Twenty-round ASC stainless magazines are included, which matters because 6.5 Grendel requires Grendel-specific mags (standard 5.56 mags will not feed reliably).
