Walther P22 Q

The Walther P22 Q is the most compact .22 LR pistol from a major manufacturer. At 6.3 inches overall length and 17 oz, it fits hands that find full-size .22 pistols like the Ruger Mark IV or SW22 Victory too large. The ambidextrous magazine release and manual safety make it accessible for both left and right-handed shooters.

The DA/SA trigger system provides a heavier first pull (approximately 10 lbs in double action) with a lighter single-action pull on subsequent shots. This is useful for teaching trigger control fundamentals, as the shooter must learn to manage two distinct trigger weights. The 3.42-inch barrel limits both sight radius and muzzle velocity compared to longer-barreled competitors.

The P22 Q is not the most accurate or refined .22 LR pistol, but it fills a specific niche: shooters with small hands, young shooters learning fundamentals, and anyone who wants the lightest possible .22 LR pistol. The Picatinny rail accepts compact lights for a complete training setup. The zinc alloy slide is lighter than steel but less durable over very high round counts.
