Daniel Defense
Low-gas stainless 5.56 suppressor with HUB mounting and a low-$700 street price, offset by a 22 oz body
+11 more
The Daniel Defense SG-556 earns attention on price and gas control, not handling. Daniel Defense builds the 7-inch, 1.75-inch can from stainless steel and includes a 1/2x28 direct-thread adapter that attaches through the standard HUB 1.375x24 rear interface. That gives a buyer a usable mount in the box and leaves the door open for a different HUB-compatible system later.
The cost is weight. Daniel Defense's launch specification lists 22 oz, and the 2023 TBAC Silencer Summit measured the complete tested assembly at 23.89 oz and 7.215 inches. That is a major penalty at the muzzle of an 11.5-inch rifle. TBAC recorded 143.70 dBA mil-spec-left peak average and 128.28 dBA shooter-ear LEQ on its shared 5.56 test host. An independent review also reported low blowback and almost no visible flash, but it did not meter sound.
Buy the SG-556 for a fixed rifle where low gas, stainless construction, HUB flexibility, and price matter more than front-end weight. Skip it for a rifle carried for hours or any build already fighting a heavy rail, light, and laser stack.
