ALG Defense
Budget floor for triggers that don't suck, polished and inspected mil-spec
The ALG Defense QMS is the answer to "what's the cheapest trigger that's actually worth buying." It strips away the ACT's nickel boron and nickel teflon coatings but keeps what matters: honed sear surfaces, properly heat-treated 8620 alloy steel castings, and 4140 chrome-moly pins ground to a finer finish than mil-spec.
ALG hones the sear engagement surfaces smooth without removing metal below the valleys of the stock surface finish. This means the geometry is identical to a standard mil-spec trigger, preserving the same reliability, but the contact surfaces are polished enough to eliminate the gritty, inconsistent pull that makes stock triggers feel cheap. Pull weight sits around 6.5 pounds with the included full-power hammer spring.
The QMS uses the same 8620 alloy steel castings as the ACT, correctly carburized, quenched, and tempered for high surface hardness. The trigger and hammer pins are 4140 chrome-moly steel, centerless ground to a fine finish. Unlike the ACT, the QMS does not include a reduced-power hammer spring. Installation and maintenance are identical to any standard mil-spec fire control group. For builders on a strict budget who refuse to settle for whatever trigger came in the parts kit, the QMS is the floor.
