20/20 Precision Trigger Sear Mod for Steyr AUG

The Steyr AUG trigger pull is the platform's most-criticized factory feature. The two-stage geometry has long pre-travel, a vague break, and a long reset that interrupts follow-up shots. The 20/20 Precision Trigger Sear Mod, sold through Rat Worx USA, replaces the factory sear with a precision-machined aluminum sear that reduces pre-travel, sharpens the break, and halves the reset time.

Pull weight does not materially change with the sear mod alone, so many owners pair the 20/20 sear with the Steyr Enhanced Trigger Spring Kit when they want both shorter travel and lighter spring weight. The combined upgrade is roughly $185 using current direct prices.

Important fitment note: From 2021 production onward, many AUG A3 and AUG A3 M1 trigger packs require minor fitting before the 20/20 sear functions correctly. The fix is removing 3/32 inch of material from the trigger pack housing's "stop" in the right rear corner, using a 1/8 inch end mill or a Dremel. The mod ships with test instructions to verify proper hammer release after reassembly. Skipping this verification can result in unsafe operation: if the hammer can fall with a relatively light strike of the buttstock on the ground when the safety is OFF, the sear or housing needs additional fitting.
