VLTOR MUR-1A Modular Upper Receiver

VLTOR machines the MUR-1A from a 7075-T6 aluminum forging and gives the receiver thicker walls than a conventional flat-top upper. The 9.3-ounce body includes VLTOR's pinned shell-deflector and forward-assist assembly, M4 feed ramps, a dry-film-lubed bore, and a Type III Class 2 hardcoat finish.

The receiver accepts standard AR-15 parts, but its value proposition is rigidity and the modular assist housing rather than minimum weight. VLTOR warns owners not to remove the pinned shell-deflector assembly outside its service process if they want to preserve the lifetime warranty.
