P320 X-Five Legion optic footprint: what red dots fit

SIG P320 X-Five Legion

The P320 X-Five Legion runs SIG's PRO optic cut, milled straight into the slide, so there is no plate system to learn. SIG builds the pistol on a ROMEO1PRO optic-ready slide and lists its RX footprint as PRO, the pattern that shares screw spacing with the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, so DeltaPoint Pro and ROMEO1PRO class optics bolt to the slide with nothing under them. That is the lowest a dot can sit on this gun, which matters on a 43.5 oz competition pistol whose sight line is already set by the Dawson Precision adjustable irons. Aimpoint ACRO, Holosun 509T, Holosun EPS, and the micro Shield RMSc and Holosun K optics do not share the locating geometry and sit outside what the factory cut accepts.

The X-Five Legion sits on the X-Series side of the P320 optic-cut split, and the two sides do not share plates. Plate makers publish one P320 family for the X-Series and Legion slides, where the rear iron sight rides the optic cover plate and leaves with it, and a separate family for the RX, Pro Series, and AXG slides, where the rear sight stays in its dovetail. A plate machined for one will not seat in the other, so order by the cut named on the listing and never by the P320 name alone.

Mounts directly (DeltaPoint Pro footprint)(8)

These optics carry the DeltaPoint Pro footprint the slide is cut for. Screws, recoil bosses, and pocket all line up, so they seat on the slide with no plate.

P320 X-Five Legion optic fitment FAQ

What optic footprint does the P320 X-Five Legion use?

Do I need an adapter plate to mount a red dot on the P320 X-Five Legion?

No. The P320 X-Five Legion slide is cut for the DeltaPoint Pro footprint and DeltaPoint Pro optics bolt straight to the slide.

Does the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro fit a P320 X-Five Legion?

Yes. The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro uses the DeltaPoint Pro footprint that the P320 X-Five Legion slide is cut for, so it bolts straight to the slide with no adapter plate.

Do P320 X-Five Legion optic plates fit a P320 AXG Pro?

No. Plate makers split the P320 into two plate families and these two pistols land on opposite sides. The X-Series and Legion slides lose the rear iron sight when the optic cover plate comes off, while the RX, Pro Series, and AXG slides keep theirs in a dovetail, and the plate outlines differ to match. Order the plate by the cut named on the listing rather than by the P320 model name.

Does the P320 X-Five Legion keep its rear sight with an optic mounted?

No. The rear sight rides the removable optic cover plate on this slide, the same plate SIG stamps with the LEGION marking, so it comes off with the plate when a dot goes on. The Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight stays in its dovetail. Competitors who want a rear reference behind the dot fit a suppressor-height rear sized to the optic.
