The optic-ready SIG P365 slide is cut for one footprint, the Shield RMSc pattern, which SIG lists as its Compact footprint. There is no plate in the system: the pocket, the recoil lugs, and the screw holes are milled into the slide, so an RMSc-pattern micro dot seats on bare slide steel at the lowest height this pistol offers. That covers most of the micro-compact class, from small open-emitter dots to enclosed carry optics built on the same base. Holosun's K-pattern optics are the exception to understand before you buy, because their bases carry fewer lug pockets than the RMSc cut stands lugs.
The P365 name covers two different slides. SIG still catalogs the original P365 Nitron Micro-Compact, SKUs 365-9-BXR3 and 365-9-BXR3-MS, and lists both as not optic ready: no pocket, no lugs, no screw holes. The optic-ready gun is the P365 Nitron, SKU 365-9-BXR3P, and the P on the end of the SKU is the tell. Look at the slide behind the rear sight before you buy a dot. A removable cover plate over a recessed pocket means the cut is there; unbroken slide steel means a milling service or a replacement slide.
These optics carry the Shield RMSc footprint the slide is cut for. Screws, recoil bosses, and pocket all line up, so they seat on the slide with no plate.

Not as a drop-in. The P365 optic cut is the Shield RMSc pattern, which stands four recoil lugs up in the pocket, and a Holosun K-pattern optic has only two lug pockets in its base, so two slide lugs are left with nowhere to seat. The two real fixes are the adapter hardware Holosun ships with its K-series optics, or filing the extra lugs off the slide, which permanently changes the slide. An RMSc-pattern dot in the other direction needs none of that.
Yes. SIG lists the optic-ready P365 and every P365X model under the same Compact (Shield RMSc) footprint, so a dot that bolts to one bolts to the other. What changes between them is the grip module, the magazine capacity, and the accessory rail, not the interface under the optic.
