Blue Force Gear
ULTRAcomp laser-cut panel runs at ~9 oz loaded with empty mags. Ten-Speed elastic pouches lay flat when empty so the rig disappears under a jacket. Split-front zipper unzips fully prone.
The Blue Force Gear RACKminus SAV-2 is the lightest serious chest rig on the market by a meaningful margin. The panel is ULTRAcomp — a laser-cut polymer-coated fabric that weighs about 250 grams (around 9 oz) for the bare rig and only adds the weight of the magazines you put in it. There is no admin pouch, no GP pocket, no radio pocket. Four mags is the ceiling, and the rig is designed to do that one job well.
The Ten-Speed pockets are the BFG signature. They use a military-grade elastic that retains a magazine through pure stretch tension. When the pocket is empty it lays completely flat against the panel — no flapping, no bulk under a jacket. When loaded, the elastic pulls tight around the mag and indexes it consistently. The trade-off is that elastic retention loosens over time and is less secure than kydex under aggressive prone work or rolling.
The split-front zipper is the second piece of the design. Unzip the front and the rig opens completely flat for prone shooting or fast don/doff. This is a meaningful advantage for any shooter who actually does prone work or runs the rig over body armor.
Variants: the M4 SR25 variant carries four 7.62x51 / SR25 magazines without geometric modifications — the elastic stretches to take the larger mag body. The standard M4 variant carries four 5.56 AR-15 mags. Color options are Multicam, Ranger Green, and Black. OpticsPlanet carries multiple variants under AWIN; BFG-direct is the fallback. The original RACKminus shipped without the SAV-2 split-front upgrade and is now discontinued.
