Athlon
Sub-$400 entry FFP precision scope with 30mm tube, APRS11 illuminated reticle, precision zero stop, and 0.1 MIL turrets built for first-time PRS shooters.
The Argos BTR Gen3 6-24x50 is the entry-tier FFP precision scope that started the sub-$500 PRS scope category, and the Gen3 update keeps it competitive with the newer Arken SH-4J and EP-5. The 30mm tube limits elevation travel compared to 34mm budget scopes, but the APRS11 (MIL) and APLR11 (MOA) FFP reticles are clean, the precision zero stop works as advertised, and Athlon's lifetime transferable warranty is the best in the price class.
Glass is fully multi-coated with argon purging, the etched illuminated reticle covers 11 brightness levels, and parallax adjusts from 10 yards to infinity. At 30.3 ounces it is in the same weight class as Arken SH-4J without quite matching that scope's elevation travel.
This is the scope for the shooter buying their first precision rifle on a tight budget who wants an established brand with strong dealer support. It loses to the Arken EP-5 on raw spec (34mm tube, more elevation, larger objective) but wins on warranty service network and resale liquidity. Pick this one if you value brand presence; pick the EP-5 if you value specs per dollar.
