AGM Global Vision
Cheapest path into a real PVS-14 housing. Gen 2+ green phosphor tube, no autogating, hand-pick spec only. The right buy for a once-a-month range plinker who wants the form factor without spending Gen 3 money.
The AGM PVS-14 NL2 is the cheapest current-production tube housed in a real PVS-14 form factor. At $2,595 it sits below every Gen 3 PVS-14 on the market, which is the only reason to buy it. The trade-off is the tube: Gen 2+ green phosphor with manual gain and no autogating means the tube blooms when it sees a sudden bright source, lacks the resolution and signal-to-noise ratio of a Gen 3 White Phosphor tube, and wears faster under heavy runtime.
For occasional civilian use the NL2 still works. The PVS-14 housing accepts any standard helmet mount (Wilcox G24, Norotos Rhino II, ATN PASGT/MICH) and weapon-mount adapter. Battery runs ~40 hours on a single AA. If the use case is a few weekend range trips per year plus occasional time under stars, this tube will deliver acceptable performance and last a decade with light use.
For training under stress, IR-illuminator-on-IR-illuminator scenarios, or any role where blowing out the tube matters, this is the wrong unit. Skip to the AGM 3AL3 (Gen 3 Level 3 green phosphor, $2,895) or 3AW3 (Gen 3 Level 3 white phosphor auto-gated, $3,219) — the $300-600 delta over the NL2 buys autogating, better tube specs, and meaningfully longer service life.
