Vector Optics
Sub-$80 rifle red dot with a 25mm window, motion-sensor power management, and a quick-release Picatinny mount in the box
+12 more
The Vector Optics Maverick-II 1x25 GenII sits at the bottom of the budget red dot market and still ships with a quick-release Picatinny mount, flip-up lens caps, and a hex key in the box. The 25mm window is wider than the 20mm openings common in this price tier, and window width does more for fast both-eyes-open shooting than dot size does.
A 3 MOA dot runs across six brightness settings with a separate on/off switch. Adjustments move in audible 1 MOA clicks with 60 MOA of travel in both elevation and windage, which is enough range for a flat-top AR-15 and for the riser height the included mount provides. A built-in motion sensor handles power management, shutting the optic down when it sits still and bringing it back when the rifle moves, so there is no switch discipline to maintain between range trips.
The compromises land where the price says they will. Vector rates the housing IPX4, which covers rain and splashing but not submersion, so this is not the dot for a carbine that gets dunked or hosed down. The specification table also publishes no battery-life hours figure for the CR2032, unlike the 40,000 and 50,000 hour ratings advertised by the Sig and Holosun optics one tier up. Buy it as a first optic, a plinking dot, or a backup, not as a duty sight.
