Daniel Defense SPRIII

The Daniel Defense SPRIII is the successor to the company's MK12 and keeps the two things that made that rifle work as a designated-marksman gun: an 18-inch cold hammer forged barrel in the MK12 profile, made from a proprietary stainless blend and DLC finished, and a rifle-length direct-impingement gas system behind a hardened 416 stainless MK12 low-profile gas block. Eighteen inches of 1:7 barrel keeps 77-grain match loads supersonic well past 600 yards, and rifle-length gas keeps the impulse soft enough to spot your own hits under magnification.

What changed is everything around the barrel. The quad rail is gone, replaced by the RIS III 15.0 M-LOK handguard with a modular full-length ARCALOCK bottom panel, so bipods, tripod clamps, and support bags index directly on a dovetail instead of a Picatinny section clamped to the bottom of the rail. The trigger is a Geissele Super Semi-Automatic, a genuine match-grade two-stage that most rifles in this price class still make you buy separately. The stock is a Magpul PRS Lite, adjustable for length of pull and comb height. The lower is Daniel Defense's fully ambidextrous receiver, so the safety selector, magazine release, and bolt release all mirror, and the charging handle is ambidextrous too.

The cost is portability. At 8.6 pounds bare and 34 3/4 inches at minimum length, this is a rifle you shoot from a bipod, a bag, or a tripod rather than one you clear a structure with. It is not an NFA item, so it transfers like any other rifle, and the Daniel Defense flash suppressor sits on 1/2x28 threads for a normal 5.56 suppressor mount.
