Palmetto State Armory's Premium and CHF (Cold Hammer Forged) complete upper assemblies deliver exceptional value by utilizing FN-manufactured barrels at budget-friendly pricing. These barrels are produced using FN's proprietary "Machine Gun Steel"—a hammer forged chrome moly vanadium blend that's work hardened through the forging process. This manufacturing method results in barrels with chrome lining almost twice as thick as standard M16 specifications, significantly extending service life even under sustained fire.

The forged 7075 T6 upper receiver is machined to mil-spec dimensions with F-marked front sight post (where applicable) and T-marks for accessory mounting. Available in multiple configurations including 10.5" carbine, 16" mid-length, and 20" rifle-length options, PSA's Premium/CHF uppers provide flexibility for various build requirements. The mid-length gas system on 16" models offers smoother cycling compared to carbine-length alternatives while the rifle-length gas on 20" barrels provides optimal performance for precision applications.
