Primary Arms PLxC 1.5-12x36 FFP RDB

The Primary Arms PLxC 1.5-12x36 FFP RDB is the extended-range sibling to the PLxC 1-8x, trading true 1x for a 12x upper end that pushes practical precision out to 600 yards in a scope that is still only 9.75 inches long and 19.7 ounces. It is built in Japan around ED glass with fully multi-coated lenses, and the first focal plane ACSS Raptor 5.56 Yard G2 reticle keeps holdovers calibrated for 5.56 NATO and .308 at any magnification.

The headline feature is RDB, Primary Arms' diffractive Red Dot Bright reticle technology. Instead of a fiber optic or etched-and-lit reticle, the illuminated elements are projected through a diffractive optical element, which keeps the dot crisp and consistent across lighting conditions where traditional LPVO illumination tends to wash out at high power. AutoLive motion-sensing illumination handles battery management automatically, going to sleep when the rifle is still and waking up the moment it moves.

The 1.5x low end gives up a small amount of close-quarters field of view compared to a true 1x LPVO, and the tradeoff is the compact chassis and the 12x ceiling. For shooters running a piggyback offset red dot on the new Top Cap Reflex Mount V2, the 1.5x low end becomes a non-issue and the scope behaves like a compact DMR optic with red-dot speed available on demand.
