Strike Eagle 1-8x24mm Rifle Scope - Strike Eagle 1-8x24mm Sfp Illum. Ar-Bdc3 Black W/Mount
The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24 slots directly between the 1-6x Gen II and the Viper PST Gen II, offering an extended 8x top end for shooters who want to stretch shots to 500-650 yards without leaving the budget tier. At 17.4 oz it is actually lighter than the 1-6x Gen II, and at $399 street price it undercuts the 1-6x Gen II significantly while adding two more power settings.
The AR-BDC3 reticle is the same unit found on the 1-6x Gen II, calibrated for 5.56 from a 16-inch barrel. The broken circle and center dot work identically at 1x for rapid CQB, and the stadia markings now reach to 650 yards at maximum magnification rather than 600. Running SFP, the holdovers are only accurate at the 8x max setting, which is the same tradeoff as the 1-6x version. The 140 MOA adjustment range is identical to the 1-6x sibling.
The tighter eye box at 8x compared to 6x is noticeable when transitioning quickly from 1x to max power. Shooters who compete in dynamic events will feel this more than recreational users. Against the Burris RT-6 in the same price bracket, the Strike Eagle wins on weight by 0.6 oz and carries Vortex's broader warranty reputation, while the RT-6 trades on Burris's domestic manufacturing claim and a slightly different reticle design.
