Overview

The B-14 Hunter is Bergara's straightforward field rifle in the B-14 line. It keeps the Bergara barrel and smooth two-lug action but uses a lighter glass-fiber-reinforced synthetic stock and hinged floorplate instead of the heavier HMR mini-chassis or Ridge threaded-barrel setup. The result is a practical hunting rifle for deer, elk, and range practice when weight matters more than chassis adjustability.

Like other B-14 rifles, the Hunter uses a Remington 700-style scope-base footprint and Bergara's adjustable trigger. The standard Hunter is best treated as a traditional hunting bolt gun: 22-inch short-action chamberings such as .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor, 24-inch long-action chamberings such as .30-06 and .270 Win, and an unthreaded No. 4 barrel profile.

Key Features

  • Bergara 4140 CrMo barrel with sub-MOA factory accuracy guarantee
  • Glass-fiber-reinforced synthetic stock with SoftTouch finish
  • Adjustable factory trigger from 2.6 to 4 lb
  • Remington 700-style scope-base compatibility
  • Hinged floorplate magazine

Pros

  • +Lighter than the HMR and Ridge for field carry
  • +Sub-MOA accuracy without giving up packability
  • +Adjustable factory trigger eliminates the typical first upgrade
  • +Remington 700-style scope-base footprint keeps mounting simple

Cons

  • Polymer stock is utilitarian and not as refined as wood
  • Standard Hunter barrels are not factory threaded
  • Hinged floorplate is slower to unload than AICS detachable magazines
