Overview
The BCM Standard 11.5" ELW complete upper pairs an 11.5" carbine-gas barrel in BCM's Enhanced Lightweight profile with the MCMR-10 M-LOK handguard. BCM's ELW profile is a continuous taper: heavier at the chamber where heat builds, thinner out front, with no handguard-cap shoulder. The result is an 11.5" upper that carries its weight near the receiver and swings faster than a Government-profile barrel of the same length.
The barrel is MIL-B-11595E steel with a chrome-lined bore and chamber, a USGI 5.56 NATO chamber, and a 1:7 twist that stabilizes the heavier 5.56 loads short-barrel shooters favor. BCM proof-loads and magnetic-particle inspects its barrels (marked HP MP), and every upper group is assembled, headspaced, and test fired before it ships.
BCM's own lineup puts the Standard ELW below the BFH (cold hammer forged) 11.5" in price. Choose the ELW for handling and weight; choose the BFH when barrel life under high round counts is the priority.
