CCI Subsonic 40gr is the load that solves the suppressed .22 dilemma: stay quiet without choking the action. At 1,050 fps it stays below the speed of sound, so there is no supersonic crack for a can to fight, yet it carries enough energy to cycle most semi-automatic 10/22s and rimfire pistols that the truly quiet loads cannot. The 40gr lead flat-nose bullet also hits harder on small game than lighter subsonic options.
This is the practical middle of the suppressor lineup. CCI Quiet-22 is quieter but too weak to cycle most autoloaders; Aguila Sniper Subsonic is heavier but demands a fast-twist barrel. CCI Subsonic asks nothing special of the gun and runs in the standard 1:16 twist barrels that ship on nearly every rimfire rifle and pistol.
For a suppressed plinking and small-game setup you will actually shoot a lot, this is the default. Buy it by the brick, run it through a stock 10/22 with a can, and it just works.
