Overview
The Criterion CORE Series barrel represents a modern approach to AR-15 barrel design, addressing traditional weight distribution issues while maintaining match-grade accuracy standards. Built with tactical shooters in mind, the CORE profile features a continuous taper design that eliminates steps and harsh diameter variations and moves steel back around the chamber, resulting in more consistent harmonics and uniform heat dissipation across the barrel.
Manufactured from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium steel with a hand-lapped chrome-lined bore, these barrels deliver exceptional durability without sacrificing precision. The chrome lining provides extended service life and corrosion resistance, while the .223 Wylde chamber ensures compatibility with both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. The .625" gas journal is pre-dimpled for easy gas block alignment and solid lock-up.
In real-world use, the CORE profile is most attractive to shooters who want a chrome-lined barrel with precision-oriented handling rather than a pure lightweight pencil contour. Shorter CORE lengths do not share the 16-inch barrel's velocity or heat behavior.
