Daniel Defense MK18 RIII SBR (10.3")

The Daniel Defense MK18 RIII SBR is the current factory short-barrel rifle version of DD's 10.3-inch 5.56 platform. The cold hammer-forged Government-profile barrel runs a carbine-length gas system, and the 9.5-inch RIS III M-LOK rail keeps an uninterrupted top rail for optics, lights, and aiming devices. The RIII version adds Daniel Defense's fully ambidextrous lower receiver, so left- and right-handed shooters get mirrored access to the bolt catch, magazine release, and safety controls.

Daniel Defense ships the MK18 RIII as an NFA-regulated SBR with a collapsing stock, not as a brace pistol. The factory flash suppressor uses 1/2x28 threads, so common 5.56 suppressor mounts fit without changing barrels. The tradeoff against a 14.5-inch or 16-inch carbine is muzzle velocity; for vehicle work, patrol-carbine roles, and home-defense distances, the shorter package is the point, while outdoor work past 200 yards still favors a longer barrel.
