Overview

The Taurus G3X is the Glock 45 of the budget tier — a hybrid that mates the full-size G3 frame to the compact G3c slide. The result is a pistol that handles like the full-size G3 (better grip purchase, full grip frame, easier to control under recoil) but conceals like a compact (3.2-inch slide, shorter sight radius). Capacity stays at 15+1 in the flush magazine and 17+1 with the full-size G3 magazine.

The G3X is the right pick for the shooter who finds the G3c grip too short for a full purchase but does not want a 4-inch slide for daily carry. It is a duty-style frame on a carry-style slide, the same logic that drives the Glock 45 / 19X market. Magazines cross-fit with both G3 and G3c. The G3X uses the same trigger, safeties, optic plate (no T.O.R.O. variant currently), and Picatinny rail as the rest of the family.

There is no factory G3X T.O.R.O. variant. Optics-ready G3X owners must either (a) buy the G3c T.O.R.O. instead and accept the shorter grip, or (b) send the G3X slide out for custom milling, which usually costs $250 to $400 and defeats the budget angle.

Key Features

  • 15+1 flush magazine (cross-fits 17-round G3 mags and 12-round G3c mags)
  • Full-size G3 frame with full grip purchase
  • Compact 3.2-inch slide for concealment
  • Polymer frame with Picatinny accessory rail
  • Restrike capability for failed primers
  • Manual safety + striker block + loaded chamber indicator

Pros

  • +Best of both worlds: full grip with compact slide
  • +Cross-fit magazines with both G3 and G3c
  • +Cheaper alternative to the $700+ Glock 45
  • +Easier to control under recoil than the G3c (longer grip, better leverage)

Cons

  • No factory T.O.R.O. variant — slide milling required for optics
  • Less concealable than the G3c due to longer grip
  • Shorter sight radius than the full-size G3
  • Smaller aftermarket than the G3c (most aftermarket targets G3c specifically)
