Overview

The Daniel Defense MK18 RIII Upper Receiver Group is the modern M-LOK version of the MK18 upper. It keeps the 10.3" cold hammer forged 5.56 NATO barrel, carbine gas system, M16 profile bolt carrier group, and GRIP-N-RIP ambidextrous charging handle, then replaces the RIS II quad rail with the RIS III 9.5" M-LOK handguard.

The RIS III keeps a full-length Picatinny top rail while moving accessories to M-LOK slots at the sides and bottom. That makes the upper slimmer in the hand than the RIS II version, especially once rail panels and a white light are installed. For strict clone-correct builds, use the RIS II MK18 URG. For an MK18-style build that prioritizes current accessory mounting, the RIII is the cleaner buy.
