On the Glock 17 Gen6 the footprint question resolves to a plate question. The full-size Gen6 slide carries the Optics Ready System pocket, and every red dot mounts on a plate that bolts into it. Glock includes three: Plate 02 for Trijicon RMR and Holosun 507C footprint optics, Plate 03 for C-More, and Plate 04 for the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and EOTech EFLX. Anything on the Aimpoint ACRO, Holosun 509T, Holosun EPS, or Shield RMSc / Holosun K pattern needs an aftermarket Gen6 plate. Gen6 plates and Gen5 MOS plates are separate parts and do not interchange in either direction.

Plan on replacing the polymer plate if this is going to be a duty gun. Without an optic fence the plate lets recoil shear load the optic screws rather than the plate body, and the dot can drift off zero even when the hardware never visibly moves and the witness marks stay intact. A steel or aluminum plate is the fix, and it is also the only route to the ACRO, 509T, Holosun EPS, and RMSc / K footprints.
