Glock 19 Gen5 MOS optic footprint: what red dots fit

Glock 19 Gen5 MOS

The Glock 19 Gen5 MOS has no single optic footprint: it has a pocket and a plate. Glock mills the MOS cut into the slide, you bolt in the plate that matches your red dot's footprint, and the optic bolts to the plate. Two plates in the factory box do the heavy lifting, Plate 02 for the Trijicon RMR and Holosun 507C family and Plate 04 for the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro. Everything else comes from the aftermarket, where machined plates cover Aimpoint ACRO, Holosun 509T, Holosun EPS, and Shield RMSc / Holosun K. So the real answer to what fits is almost anything, once the right plate is under it.

The MOS designation is the whole story here. A standard Gen5 Glock 19 slide has no optic pocket, no mounting screws, and no recoil shelf, so no plate or optic will mount to it without a milling job or a replacement optic-cut slide. If the slide has a removable cover plate behind the rear sight, you have an MOS. If it is solid slide steel, you do not.

Glock 19 Gen5 MOS optic fitment FAQ

What optic footprint does the Glock 19 Gen5 MOS use?

Do I need an adapter plate to mount a red dot on the Glock 19 Gen5 MOS?

Yes, for almost every optic. The Glock 19 Gen5 MOS mounts red dots through a plate system, so you bolt the plate matching your optic's footprint into the slide and then bolt the optic to the plate. The exceptions are optics built for that pocket, such as the C&H Direct Mount Optic for Glock MOS and Holosun SCS-MOS, which mount with no plate. Plates are available for the Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C, Shield RMSc / Holosun K, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Aimpoint ACRO, Holosun 509T and Holosun EPS footprints.

Does the Holosun 507C X2 fit a Glock 19 Gen5 MOS?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507C X2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Glock 19 Gen5 MOS using a matching plate such as the Glock OEM MOS Adapter Plate 02 RMR and C&H Precision Glock MOS to RMR Steel Adapter Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Trijicon RMR Type 2 fit a Glock 19 Gen5 MOS?

Yes, on a plate. The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Glock 19 Gen5 MOS using a matching plate such as the Glock OEM MOS Adapter Plate 02 RMR and C&H Precision Glock MOS to RMR Steel Adapter Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun 507K X2 fit a Glock 19 Gen5 MOS?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507K X2 is a Shield RMSc / Holosun K footprint optic, so it mounts on the Glock 19 Gen5 MOS using a matching plate such as the C&H Precision Glock MOS RMSc / Holosun K Steel Plate and Calculated Kinetics Glock MOS DOGTAG RMSc / K Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun EPS Carry fit a Glock 19 Gen5 MOS?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun EPS Carry mounts on the Glock 19 Gen5 MOS using a matching plate such as the C&H Precision Glock MOS RMSc / Holosun K Steel Plate and Calculated Kinetics Glock MOS DOGTAG EPS Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Can I mount a red dot on a Glock 19 Gen5 that is not MOS?

Not without machining. A non-MOS Gen5 Glock 19 slide is solid steel behind the rear sight with no pocket, no threaded holes, and no recoil shelf. The two real paths are sending the slide to a milling service for a specific footprint, or buying an aftermarket optic-cut slide. An adapter plate cannot create a cut that is not there.

Do the Glock 19 MOS and Glock 19 Gen6 use the same plates?

No. The Gen5 MOS pocket and the Gen6 Optics Ready System pocket are different cuts with different screw positions, and the plates are not interchangeable in either direction. A Gen6 plate will not bolt into an MOS slide and an MOS plate will not bolt into a Gen6 slide. Buy the plate that names your generation.
