The Daniel Defense M4A1 RIS II Upper Receiver Group is the Block 2 host for builders who want the SOPMOD silhouette without the fixed front sight post. It runs the same RIS II Picatinny quad rail that SOCOM adopted in 2005, but instead of the triangular FSP it uses a pinned low-profile gas block under the rail, so you can run a folding front sight and keep a clean top-rail line for an EOTech or red dot at the height you choose.
The barrel is a 14.5-inch cold hammer forged chrome-lined Chrome Moly Vanadium M4 profile, carbine-length gas, pinned and welded with a Daniel Defense Extended Flash Suppressor to reach 16 inches for non-NFA compliance. Note that this is the DD flash hider, not the SureFire SF3P, so it is not a drop-in mount for the SureFire SOCOM suppressor family; the FSP variant ships the SF3P if a suppressor-correct front end matters to you.
The group ships complete with a Daniel Defense M16-profile bolt carrier group and the ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle, so pairing it with any forged 7075 lower delivers a complete non-NFA M4A1 in the Block 2 RIS II configuration.
