Equipment Dossier // Suppressed

Suppressors

A can changes how a gun runs, not just how it sounds. Gas comes back through the action, standard iron sights disappear behind the tube, and the mount matters as much as the can hanging off it. This is the complete field index to our suppressor coverage: the buying process, ranked cans for every host from rimfire to magnum, the mounting standards they lock onto, the tuning that keeps a suppressed gun running clean, and the care that keeps it that way.

Section 01

Start Here

What the buying process actually involves, what a can does to the gun in front of it, and how to tell before you pay whether your host can take one at all.

Section 02

Rifle & Long-Gun Cans

Ranked picks by chambering: 5.56, .300 Blackout, .30 caliber and .308, 8.6 Blackout, lightweight hunting cans, magnum rifles, and the 12-gauge outlier.

Section 03

Pistol, PCC & Rimfire Cans

Short, light cans for handguns and carbines, plus the booster and piston hardware a tilting-barrel pistol needs to keep cycling with weight on the muzzle.

Section 04

Mounts, Muzzle Devices & Sights

Nothing goes on the gun until the interfaces match. QD standards compared, the muzzle devices that feed them, and the taller sights that clear a can in your sight picture.

Section 05

Host Setup & Back Pressure

A suppressor sends gas and pressure back through the action. Adjustable gas blocks, buffer weight, gas-busting charging handles, handguards with clearance, and the threaded barrels that start the whole path.

Section 06

Suppressed Hosts & Calibers

The guns and chamberings built around a can: subsonic-friendly calibers, factory-threaded hosts, and the upgrade paths for the platforms owners suppress most.

Section 07

Care & Maintenance

Carbon does not clean itself. Cleaning by can type and caliber, covers that manage heat and mirage, and the alignment check worth running before the first shot through a new mount.
