Vermont Magazine Limit: 10 Rifle, 15 Handgun

Vermont Statutes title 13, section 4021 uses separate thresholds: a device that has a capacity of, or can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds for a long gun or more than 15 rounds for a handgun. It excludes an attached .22 caliber rimfire tubular device, devices manufactured or sold solely for lever-action or bolt-action long guns or antique firearms, and devices manufactured or sold solely for firearms that ATF has determined to be curios or relics.

The possession exemption covers a device lawfully possessed on or before April 11, 2018, when the section took effect. The import ban does not apply when the same person who took a grandfathered device out of Vermont brings it back.

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.
