North Carolina Magazine Capacity Limit

North Carolina General Statutes section 14-409.40 seeks statewide uniformity over the design, sale, purchase, manufacture, distribution, registration, possession, and transfer of firearms. The section also preserves specific local powers involving discharge, public buildings and parks, and declared emergencies.

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.

Scope: Detachable magazine round-count restrictions for handguns and long guns. States not listed have no capacity limit.
