Connecticut Magazine Capacity Limit

Connecticut General Statutes section 53-202w defines a large capacity magazine as a feeding device capable of accepting, or readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds. It excludes permanently altered devices, attached .22-caliber tubular devices, and tubular magazines contained in lever-action firearms.

Sections 53-202w through 53-202x distinguish declared pre-April 2013 devices from later acquisitions. A declaration does not create unrestricted use: the chapter specifies where a declared device may be possessed and generally limits loading it to 10 rounds outside the listed exceptions.

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.
