South Carolina Magazine Limit: No Current State Cap

South Carolina Code section 23-31-510 bars the governing body of any county, municipality, or other political subdivision from enacting or promulgating a regulation or ordinance that regulates the transfer, ownership, possession, carrying, or transportation of firearms, ammunition, components of firearms, or any combination of these things. It also makes local discharge ordinances unenforceable against a landowner who fires on a parcel of at least 25 contiguous acres to protect people or property from animals the landowner reasonably believes pose a direct threat. Section 23-31-520 separately lets a local government temporarily restrict open carry on public property during a permitted protest, rally, fair, parade, festival, or other organized event.

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.
