Washington Magazine Limit: 10 Rounds

RCW 9.41.010 defines a large capacity magazine as an ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, or any conversion kit, part, or combination of parts from which such a device can be assembled when the parts are in the same person's possession or control. The definition excludes a device permanently altered so it cannot hold more than 10 rounds, a .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device, and a tubular magazine contained in a lever-action firearm.

RCW 9.41.370 prohibits manufacturing, importing, distributing, selling, or offering for sale a large capacity magazine, with exceptions for sales to the armed forces or law enforcement and for a dealer who acquires a magazine from a lawful possessor to sell it to a person who does not reside in Washington. A violation is a gross misdemeanor. The Washington Supreme Court upheld the law in State v. Gator's Custom Guns (May 8, 2025).

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.
