Minnesota Magazine Limit: No Current State Cap

Minnesota Statutes section 471.633 preempts all authority of cities, counties, towns, and other governmental subdivisions to regulate firearms, ammunition, or their respective components. The only listed exceptions allow a governmental subdivision to regulate the discharge of firearms and to adopt regulations identical to state law, and the section declares inconsistent local regulation void.

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.
