Montana Magazine Capacity Limit

Montana Code section 45-8-351 limits local regulation of the purchase, sale, transfer, ownership, possession, transportation, and use of weapons. It preserves specified authority over discharge, public buildings, employees, and zoning of firearm businesses.

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.

Scope: Detachable magazine round-count restrictions for handguns and long guns. States not listed have no capacity limit.
