Wisconsin Magazine Limit: No Current State Cap

Wisconsin Statutes section 66.0409 bars cities, villages, towns, and counties from enacting or enforcing an ordinance or resolution that regulates the sale, purchase, purchase delay, transfer, ownership, use, keeping, possession, bearing, transportation, licensing, permitting, registration, or taxation of any knife, firearm, or part of a firearm, including ammunition and reloader components, unless the local rule is the same as or similar to, and no more stringent than, a state statute. The section preserves county sales and use taxes, city, village, and town ordinances restricting firearm discharge, and zoning rules for new or expanded sport shooting ranges; its public-building exception applies only to knives.

There is no federal magazine capacity limit; the 1994 federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.
