A forced reset device is driven by the reciprocating bolt carrier or slide, not by hammer energy. The action recocks the hammer or striker and the mechanism uses that stroke to push the trigger forward into reset, which is why a host whose carrier presents no trip surface cannot run a bare device at all. That single fact explains most of the compatibility map: an AR-15 carrier presents the surface natively, a SIG MCX or Grand Power Stribog carrier does not, and a dedicated .22 LR blowback bolt does not either.
The second split is trigger versus selector. A forced reset trigger replaces the fire control group and carries the reset mechanism inside it. A forced reset selector, commonly called a Super Safety, replaces the safety selector and cams your existing trigger forward. Buffer and spring figures are starting points
Every buffer, carrier, and spring line in this tool is the figure the manufacturer publishes for that specific part, and parts whose makers publish nothing show no line at all. Start there and tune from there. Correct buffer weight on a gas gun depends on gas port size, barrel length, and ammunition, none of which a compatibility list can know, and a heavier buffer is only the whole answer for one of the three ways a forced reset setup fails. Trigger freeze after one or two rounds is a mass and gas problem. Light strikes and hammer follow are different mechanisms with different fixes.
Forced reset triggers are restricted in a number of states, and retailer shipping policies are not the same thing as the statute. Check the state legality matrix for forced reset triggers for the jurisdiction you live in before ordering.
Forced reset triggers for the AR-15 (5.56, .223, .300 BLK)
The AR-15 has the deepest forced reset market of any host, and it splits into two mechanically different products: complete drop-in triggers that replace the whole fire control group, and forced reset selectors that keep your existing trigger and replace the safety selector instead. Both reset off the bolt carrier, so carrier profile and buffer weight decide whether the gun runs.
A full-auto-profile (M16) carrier is the first thing to check when a forced reset trigger fires a round or two and goes dead. The semi carrier's relieved rear underside never actuates the reset mechanism on cassette designs, and no buffer weight fixes that. Once the carrier is right, buffer mass is the tuning lever: heavier slows the carrier enough for the reset to complete. Correct buffer weight also depends on gas port size and ammunition, so treat every figure below as a starting point and tune from there.

Forced reset triggers for the Glock (Gen 1-4 pistols)
Every Glock forced reset trigger in the catalog fits Gen 1-4 natively. Several makers state Gen 5 fitment with a Gen 1-4 slide release swapped in, and none of them fit the G44 rimfire. Forced reset triggers for the AK (stamped AKM, AK-74, Beryl)
AK forced reset triggers are fitted parts kits, not drop-in cassettes. MaRs makes the production units, and they split by fire control pocket: the AKM kits cover stamped 7.62x39, 5.56, and 5.45 receivers, while the Beryl unit is cut for FB Radom Beryl pockets and does not fit a standard AKM.
Selector-to-trunnion clearance is the fitment variable on the spring-loaded kit, which needs roughly 3/8 inch. No forced reset trigger is listed by any maker for the 9mm PSA AK-V or for pistol-caliber AK variants generally, and an AK-pattern fire control group by itself does not imply FRT fitment.

Forced reset triggers for the Ruger 10/22
Two forced reset triggers exist for the 10/22 and they sit at opposite ends of the price and effort scale. Forced reset triggers for the MP5 and roller-delayed 9mm (SP5, AP5, ZF5, MAC5, PTR)
MP5 forced reset splits into three paths: a self-contained cassette that drops into the factory housing, a complete replacement lower that arrives assembled, or a trip kit that only works in a lower already built around an AR fire control group. The cassettes cost the most and demand the least; the trip kits are cheapest and assume you have already solved the lower.
Grip frame marking decides selector fitment on the Rare Breed units: the SEF version needs an S/E/F letter-marked frame and the AMBI version only functions in a pictogram-marked ambidextrous frame. Host clone coverage varies by maker, so match the exact gun rather than the family.

Forced reset triggers for the KRISS Vector
Every Vector forced reset unit is a single reset-assist part rather than a trigger cassette, because the Super V action has no AR-pattern fire control group to replace. All five keep the gun semi-automatic at one round per deliberate pull; the spread is material, break-in effort, and selector design.
Gen 2 and Gen 3 guns are the supported hosts across the field. Gen 1 needs an upgraded fire control group first on most of these. Break-in is real on the stainless units: NSPEC calls for polishing the bolt lugs and action rail guides plus roughly 350 rounds and heavy lubrication.

Forced reset triggers for the MAC-10, MAC-11 and MPA Defender
MAC-pattern forced reset is a host-tolerance problem before it is a product choice. Most of the field is cut for the MasterPiece Arms Defender, and the 3DP stainless unit is the one that lists Cobray variants alongside MPA guns, which is the deciding factor if your host is an M11/9.
Reset failure on a MAC is the bolt outrunning the trigger's mechanical reset on a fast blowback cycle, not a buffer problem, so the AR heavier-buffer fix does not transfer here. The Twitch is an open-source design sold by three vendors in different materials; its beta releases reported out-of-battery detonations during development, so a gunsmith inspection before live fire is the right call.

The SIG MCX, MPX, and PSA JAKL cannot run a bare AR-15 forced reset device, because their carriers do not present the trip surface an AR bolt carrier does. Match the kit to the caliber class. What forced reset trigger fits a Glock?
Every Glock forced reset trigger on the market is a Gen 1-4 part. Trinity, Texas Trigger USA, FTA Tactical, WiseArms, and Freedom Finger all build complete FRT trigger assemblies for Gen 1-4 frames, several of them state Gen 5 fitment once you swap in a Gen 1-4 slide release, and none of them fit the G44 rimfire. Generation coverage is set per product and does not carry across brands, so read the fitment line on the exact unit before you order.
What is the best FRT for an AR-15, and what buffer does it need?
The AR-15 field splits into complete triggers (Rare Breed FRT-15L3, The Triggered Company LAT and Disruptor) and forced reset selectors that keep your existing trigger (AS Designs Super Safety and Arc-Fire, Atrius FRS, MaRs Super Safety). Rare Breed recommends an H2 or H3 buffer or an A5 system for the FRT-15L3 and requires a full-auto-compatible bolt carrier group. The Triggered Company lists H2 minimum with H3 recommended on carbines under 16 inches and a rifle buffer on a 20 inch A2. Treat those as starting points: correct buffer weight also depends on gas port size and ammunition.
Is there a forced reset trigger for an AK-47?
Yes. MaRs Trigger makes the production AK forced reset triggers: a parts kit and a spring-loaded V2 kit for stamped AKM receivers in 7.62x39, 5.56, and 5.45, plus a separate unit cut for FB Radom Beryl fire control pockets. None of them are drop-in cassettes; all require fitting, and the spring-loaded kit needs roughly 3/8 inch of selector-to-trunnion clearance. No maker lists a forced reset trigger for the 9mm PSA AK-V or for pistol-caliber AK variants.
Is there a forced reset trigger for the Ruger 10/22?
Two exist. The MaRs Trigger Ruger 10/22 Adjustable FRT is a complete drop-in assembly with adjustable reset distance and pull weight that works with OEM and Volquartsen trigger housings. The NSPEC Innovations 10/22 FRT is a 316 stainless part that installs into your factory or BX trigger pack for roughly a quarter of the price, but it requires hand fitting and a metal trigger shoe.
Does the Taurus TX22 have a forced reset trigger?
Yes, two of them, and both replace the factory disconnector rather than the whole trigger, so the install is a single-part swap with no permanent modification. The Freedom Finger Triggers 22TY lists every TX22 generation including the Compact and the T.O.R.O. The MaRs Trigger Pulse22 covers the TX22 Standard Gen 1, Gen 2, and T.O.R.O., but MaRs sources disagree on Compact fitment, so confirm that before ordering.
What forced reset trigger fits an MP5?
Three different approaches fit MP5-pattern roller-delayed guns. A self-contained cassette drops into the factory housing: the Rare Breed FRT-RD3 in SEF or AMBI selector versions, or the AS Designs ARHK, which also covers G3 and HK33 clones. A complete replacement lower arrives assembled from MaRs, War Hammer Armaments, or AS Designs. A trip kit such as the Trinity Trigger MP5 FRT or the AS Designs Slip Trip V5 is the cheapest path but only works in a lower already built around an AR-15 fire control group.
What is the difference between a forced reset trigger and a Super Safety?
A forced reset trigger is a self-contained replacement trigger group with the reset mechanism inside it. A Super Safety, also called a forced reset selector, is a selector cam that replaces your safety selector and pushes your existing trigger forward as the carrier cycles. Both are driven by the reciprocating bolt carrier and both fire one round per trigger pull, but they are different parts with different install requirements, and a Super Safety is a selector rather than a trigger.
Why does my forced reset trigger fire one or two rounds and go dead?
That is a reset failure, and on a cassette-style AR-15 FRT the first thing to check is the bolt carrier. The Rare Breed FRT-15L3 requires a full-auto-profile carrier, because a semi carrier's relieved rear underside never actuates the locking bar, and a dead trigger from the very first shot is almost always the wrong carrier. Once the carrier is right, the fix is more reciprocating mass or better gas balance, usually stepping from H2 to H3 or an A5 system. On a MAC-pattern gun the same symptom is the bolt outrunning the trigger on a fast blowback cycle, and heavier buffers do not transfer as a fix.
Is a binary trigger the same as a forced reset trigger?
No. A binary trigger fires one round on the pull and a second on the release, so it is two rounds per trigger function. A forced reset trigger fires one round per pull and uses the bolt carrier's travel to reset the trigger mechanically. They are different mechanisms with different legal treatment, and products such as the Franklin Armory binary units are not forced reset triggers.
Is there a forced reset trigger for an AR-10 or LR-308?
No manufacturer-supported one. Rare Breed lists the AR-10 platform as not currently supported for the FRT-15 family, and no maker publishes an AR-10 or LR-308 rated forced reset trigger. AR-15 FRTs physically drop into LR-308 lowers because the fire control pin geometry is the same 0.154 inch standard, but that is an unsupported practice with no warranty behind it and it still requires an M16-profile .308 carrier and a tuned buffer.
Which guns cannot run a forced reset trigger without extra parts?
Any host whose bolt carrier does not present the trip surface an AR-15 carrier does. The SIG MCX, MPX, and Spear, the PSA JAKL, the Grand Power Stribog, and dedicated .22 LR AR uppers all fall into this group. Each needs an enabling part first: an AS Designs slip trip kit or a Frankenstein Armory TSB on the SIG and JAKL hosts, a machining service or trip sled on the Stribog, and a BoreBuddy trip bar on a rimfire AR bolt. The forced reset device then installs on top of that.
Are forced reset triggers legal?
Federally, the 2025 DOJ settlement established that the forced reset mechanism fires one round per trigger function and is not a machine gun under the National Firearms Act, so no tax stamp is involved. That settlement covers rifles and grip-forward pistols such as AR and AK pistols. It does not extend to grip-fed striker pistols where the magazine loads into the trigger hand, meaning Glock, M&P, and Canik forced reset triggers sit on less settled federal footing. State law is separate and several states restrict these outright, so check the state legality matrix for your state before ordering.
